India has achieved a significant milestone in the direction of self-reliance in the defence sector by dedicating the indigenous vessel ‘Samudra Pratap’ to the nation.
This vessel has been constructed by Goa Shipyard Limited, which is a public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Defence.
The launching of ‘Samudra Pratap’ was carried out by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, which has provided encouragement to indigenous defence production.
This vessel weighs approximately 4,200 tonnes and has been equipped with state-of-the-art technology.‘Samudra Pratap’ will be used for maritime surveillance, search and rescue operations, and tasks related to maritime security.
This vessel is equipped with modern communication systems, navigation equipment, and helicopter operation facilities.
The construction of this indigenous vessel has strengthened India’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives.
This vessel will enhance the operational capability of the Indian Navy as well as strengthen India’s strategic position in the Indian Ocean region.
The construction of ‘Samudra Pratap’ is proof that India has now become capable of developing complex defence technologies.
