  • This vessel has been constructed by Goa Shipyard Limited, which is a public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Defence.
  • The launching of ‘Samudra Pratap’ was carried out by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, which has provided encouragement to indigenous defence production.
  • This vessel weighs approximately 4,200 tonnes and has been equipped with state-of-the-art technology.‘Samudra Pratap’ will be used for maritime surveillance, search and rescue operations, and tasks related to maritime security.
  • This vessel is equipped with modern communication systems, navigation equipment, and helicopter operation facilities.
  • The construction of this indigenous vessel has strengthened India’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives.
  • This vessel will enhance the operational capability of the Indian Navy as well as strengthen India’s strategic position in the Indian Ocean region.
