National Education Day is celebrated every year on 11 November to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, India’s first Education Minister.
This day is celebrated to remember the contributions of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad as Education Minister.
The celebration of this day was announced by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (now Ministry of Education) in 2008.
Remember, under his leadership, important institutions like the University Grants Commission (UGC), Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) were established.
The theme of National Education Day 2025 is – ‘AI and Education: Preserving Human Agency in a World of Automation’.
The theme of 2024 was – ‘Reflecting on Inclusive Quality Education’.
