National Education Day

• National Education Day is celebrated every year on 11 November to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, India’s first Education Minister.
• This day is celebrated to remember the contributions of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad as Education Minister.
• The celebration of this day was announced by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (now Ministry of Education) in 2008.
• Remember, under his leadership, important institutions like the University Grants Commission (UGC), Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) were established.
• The theme of National Education Day 2025 is – ‘AI and Education: Preserving Human Agency in a World of Automation’.
• The theme of 2024 was – ‘Reflecting on Inclusive Quality Education’.
